Paper Bags
Die-Cut Handle Paper Bag
Also known as: Die-cut handle bag, handleless paper bag
In a die-cut handle bag the paper itself is the handle: a handle hole is cut into each face, the top is folded in and usually a thin reinforcement board is glued there. The hole is part of the cutting die, so no rope material or threading labour is needed.
Because the load concentrates around the hole, paper weight and reinforcement matter more than with a rope bag. It works very well for light and medium products such as clothing, cosmetics and gifts.

What you can customise
Every pack is made to order for your product and brand. Each of the points below is decided together at the quotation stage.
- Handle hole
- An oval or rounded hole that fits four fingers, placed far enough below the top; some designs keep a fold-in flap.
- Paper weight
- As the load sits around the hole, 200–250 gsm with reinforcement is recommended.
- Size and gusset
- Width, height and gusset are set to your product. Large sizes may not fit on one sheet; the bag is then made from two joined sheets.
- Paper
- Paperboard (bristol) is the most common; coated paper and natural-looking kraft are also used. Typically 150, 170 or 200 gsm; 250 gsm is the upper limit.
- Print and finish
- Offset print, matte/gloss lamination, varnish, hot foil and embossing; lamination also strengthens the surface.
- Top reinforcement
- A thin board strip is glued inside the folded-in top; the handle area gets thicker and the place where bags tear most is protected.
- Decorative ribbon
- A decorative ribbon across the middle can be added on top of the handle; it is applied to each bag individually.
- Bottom board
- A board insert in the base keeps the bottom flat and carries the load.
