Paper Bags
Rope Handle Paper Bag
Also known as: Rope handle carrier bag, luxury paper bag
The rope handle paper bag is the standard model for retail and gift bags. The sheet is printed, laminated or varnished if required, die-cut, folded, then side- and bottom-glued. The top is folded in, usually with a thin reinforcement strip inside, and the holes are punched through this thicker area.
The rope is threaded by hand into every bag; plastic tips on its ends stop it from slipping back through the holes. On request the inner rope ends are knotted instead of tipped, leaving no plastic in the bag. The load spreads from the rope to the holes and the reinforced top, so it carries comfortably.
Typical uses
- Retail stores and boutiques
- Cosmetics and perfume
- Gifts and corporate promotion
- Trade fairs and events

What you can customise
Every pack is made to order for your product and brand. Each of the points below is decided together at the quotation stage.
- Rope
- Tipped bag cord, cotton rope, twisted rope and other types; thickness and colour are chosen. The rope type can change the price noticeably.
- Knotted ends
- On request the rope ends inside the bag are knotted instead of tipped; the rope cannot slip out and no plastic remains. Some rope types do not knot well.
- Size and gusset
- Width, height and gusset are set to your product. Large sizes may not fit on one sheet; the bag is then made from two joined sheets.
- Paper
- Paperboard (bristol) is the most common; coated paper and natural-looking kraft are also used. Typically 150, 170 or 200 gsm; 250 gsm is the upper limit.
- Print and finish
- Offset print, matte/gloss lamination, varnish, hot foil and embossing; lamination also strengthens the surface.
- Top reinforcement
- A thin board strip is glued inside the folded-in top; the handle area gets thicker and the place where bags tear most is protected.
- Decorative ribbon
- A decorative ribbon across the middle can be added on top of the handle; it is applied to each bag individually.
- Bottom board
- A board insert in the base keeps the bottom flat and carries the load.
