Rigid Boxes
Hinged Shoulder Box
Also known as: Back-hinged shoulder box
A hinged shoulder box keeps the shoulder-box construction: base, a neck rising above it and a lid resting on the shoulder. The difference is that the lid is joined to the base at the back. Lid and base are wrapped together along the spine and the lid opens on that paper like a hinge.
Because the lid is not a separate piece it cannot get lost, and the box opens in one movement. It combines the prestige of a shoulder box with the convenience of a magnetic box.
Typical uses
- Fragrance and cosmetics
- Jewellery and watches
- Retail display
- Corporate gifts
Highlights
- 01
Lid stays attached
The lid is joined at the spine, so the box stays complete in store and in use.
- 02
Shoulder-box look
From the front it looks exactly like a shoulder box; the neck appears on opening.
- 03
One-move opening
The lid swings back and rests open, so the box can be displayed open.
What you can customise
Every pack is made to order for your product and brand. Each of the points below is decided together at the quotation stage.
- Spine paper
- The paper that acts as the hinge can match the outer wrap or contrast with it.
- Keeping it closed
- Magnets can be added if the lid should stay shut.
- Size
- Inner dimensions are set to your product to the millimetre; you are not limited to stock sizes.
- Board thickness
- Chosen for the weight and feel of the box; we recommend 1.5, 1.8 and 2 mm and use imported board where possible.
- Wrapping paper
- Coated, kraft, textured specialty papers or book cloth; outer and inner surfaces can be chosen separately.
- Print and finish
- Offset print, matte/gloss lamination, hot foil, embossing and spot UV can be added one by one.
- Inside surface
- A plain white/black or a printed interior changes the cost noticeably; it should be specified in the brief.
- Insert
- Foam, cardboard dividers or EVA keep the product fixed inside the box.
