Lid and Base Box

Also known as: Two-piece box, telescope box

A lid and base box has a base tray and a separate lid that slides over it. Lid depth is a design choice: a partial lid leaves part of the base visible, a full-depth lid covers it completely.

Its simple construction lets the product lead, and it usually costs less than a magnetic box of the same size and specification. Base and lid are wrapped separately and ship assembled.

What you can customise

Every pack is made to order for your product and brand. Each of the points below is decided together at the quotation stage.

Lid depth: Partial lid or a full-depth lid that covers the base completely.
Thumb notch: A half-moon cut on the base edge can be added so the lid lifts off easily.
Size: Inner dimensions are set to your product to the millimetre; you are not limited to stock sizes.
Board thickness: Chosen for the weight and feel of the box; we recommend 1.5, 1.8 and 2 mm and use imported board where possible.
Wrapping paper: Coated, kraft, textured specialty papers or book cloth; outer and inner surfaces can be chosen separately.
Print and finish: Offset print, matte/gloss lamination, hot foil, embossing and spot UV can be added one by one.
Inside surface: A plain white/black or a printed interior changes the cost noticeably; it should be specified in the brief.
Insert: Foam, cardboard dividers or EVA keep the product fixed inside the box.
